History of the Fergana Valley
For more than two thousand years the Fergana Valley has played a vital role along the ancient Silk Road. Traders, artisans and scholars crossed this fertile region, bringing prosperity and cultural exchange. Margilan became one of Central Asia's most celebrated silk-producing cities, while Rishtan gained international recognition for its distinctive blue-glazed ceramics.
