About Charvak Lake
Charvak Lake (also known as the Charvak Reservoir) is one of Uzbekistan's most popular outdoor destinations. Located about 80 km from Tashkent and surrounded by the Western Tian Shan Mountains, it offers turquoise waters, beaches, hiking trails, water sports, luxury resorts and panoramic viewpoints. History of Charvak Lake
Charvak Lake was created in the 1970s with the construction of the Charvak Dam on the Chirchiq River to support hydroelectric power generation, irrigation and water management. Although the reservoir is modern, the surrounding region has been inhabited for thousands of years. Archaeological discoveries, ancient petroglyphs and nearby settlements reveal a long human history dating back to prehistoric times. Today Charvak combines modern recreation with the natural beauty of the Tian Shan Mountains, making it one of Uzbekistan's premier tourism destinations.
